My Approach A typical session might include deciding on a focus for the call, exploring and untangling difficulties, and coming up between us with a list of potential solutions. Accountability is a very helpful part of coaching relationships, and so by the end of each session you will have a clear list of actions which you agree to carry out before our next session. As a coach I work from an integrative perspective, and am influenced by humanistic and existential thinking, and Buddhist psychology. The humanistic approach highlights the self-healing capacity within us all. An existential approach is concerned with searching for ways to live a more meaningful life within the constraints of being human. Buddhist psychology helps us think about compulsive behaviour and how we can engage with the world as it is. These theoretical influences, and a lifetime of my experiences as an ordinary person and as a writer with different projects and priorities to juggle, all inform my way of working as a coach. Ethical practice is very important to me. I follow the Standards of Ethical Conduct on the website of the International Coaching Federation: www.coachfederation.org. All sessions are in confidence, and your personal details will never be passed on without your prior permission. Finding the right coach is an important and personal choice. If you'd like a free 20 minute taster telephone session or a free email report before you decide if you'd like to work with me, email me to see what times are available.
